Not even an hour later, and I have my answer.
Get that man a cameo.

Congratulations, you can't come up with your own jokes.

Brain Boy, May 19th, 2008, 12:21 pm

Oh, like YOU can.

SkyeFyre, May 19th, 2008, 4:17 pm

Wow, that was such a lame comeback. C'mon try again.

Brain Boy, May 19th, 2008, 4:42 pm

OK... our comic has 22 fans...
yours has 9.

Sorry, I think we win.

SkyeFyre, May 19th, 2008, 5:45 pm

Hey! Good! Much better than that pathetic elementary attack you threw at me before.

However, my comment was on how you cannot come up with your own jokes. The number of fans has nothing to do with that. I could further go on to say that you also should try coming up with your own original characters, and actually DRAW them.

Nextly to rebut your preceding assault, who says my comic is only found on smackjeeves? It is hosted on a number of other sites, however for the sake of this discussion we shall assume my comic resides solely on smackjeeves. Finally, you may have 22 fans, but why is your comic rated at 1.5 flames? Wheras mine is at a solid 4?

You have more fans according to smackjeeves, but my comic is definately of a higher caliber. Nextly if you simply look over the types of comics and individuals that flock to smackjeeves you will find that they are in a low age bracket. This means that your comic appeals to more people of this age range, whereas mine is intended for slightly more mature audiences. Not due to harsh content, but rather to the sophistication of the inditement.

Well then, SkyeFyre. Might I add that an original character does not need to be drawn to be original. If so, any video game would be a complete failure on the story level. So no. That pont in your arguement is completely false.

Have you ever heard the saying "Stats mean nothing"? If not, it's pretty self-explanatory. So people are too lazy to rate unless they want to make the comic look bad. For all that we know, you could've gone to every other comic and given it a one rating, just so you could put our rating in your arguement. So that point is thus disproven as well.

You say your comic is of a higher caliber? Scanning over it some, I find it lacking. Your humor flat out sucks. You say we're aiming at a younger age group for a fanbase? I don't know about BB, but I'm not aiming to amuse or gain a low age bracketed fan-base. Yours might go for a slightly more mature for 'sophistication' but i fail to see your sophistication of flaming other comics because they use jokes from television. I'm sure you've used a fair shair of stolen jokes. So instead of trying to put yourself above other people by putting them down, you just shut up. End.

Brain Boy, May 19th, 2008, 8:12 pm

Uh... Yeah. What he said.

SkyeFyre, May 19th, 2008, 10:16 pm

1. By drawn I mean not a recolour or an edit. Sprites are fine. Don't get me wrong on that. So no, that point in my argument is completely valid.

2. "Stats mean nothing" I only brought that in because your buddy brought it up. Nextly in the case of the rating, to actually disprove me, you would need to have proof that I went through each and every one of your comics and gave them a one (Which I did not). What you have simply done is speculated and provided a possibility. Nothing was disproven there. I rate comics honestly and I use a strict formula when determining what kind of rating a comic should recieve.

3. Stating that my comic was of a "higher caliber" was in reference to the stat war your less accomplished comrade started. To be honest with you, I do have a number of my own comics that I would not give a five, a four, or even a three. I'm not some stuck up jerk who can't see his own errors. Yes some of my comics need work, but then again, so do many of even the most popular comics out there. I can easily load up Penny Arcade, Real Life Comics, VGCats...etc and find several comics which are sub par. For one thing, not every single comic can be great and simply scanning over a comic isn't always the best way to judge it, and secondly humour is a matter of opinion. Oh, and not one of my jokes has been stolen from anywhere else. Each and every single one of them were written by myself with inspiration, or aide from either my friends, my brother, or my wife. Oh right, and about me supposedly saying you're aiming at a lower age group for a fanbase, no. What my statement was, was that on SJ the vast majority of users are in the lower age bracket and as a result, no matter what you do, you will have more children reading your stuff than adults just because there are more children on this site.

In conclusion: The fact still remains that there are copied jokes in this comic, and there are copied and edited sprites. My original statement was said out of frustration to the overwhelming number of comics which all appear the same as yours. What my original comment should have read was "I would really like to see more original content, both written and drawn. I believe it would add much more to your comic and really give it something that would make it stand out from the rest of the sprite comics available on SJ."

Elda142, May 20th, 2008, 2:15 pm

Well then, that makes much more sense. But yeah, I honestly could care less about stats, I never use them to judge anything, so sure, whatever. So after that later clearing up I see your point much more clearly and I can respect that opinion.
